COMCAST DISPUTE MAKES TEXAS MAN FEEL LIKE HE’S LIVING IN EGYPT

January 31 2011

Arlington, TX – Communication is at the heart of the human experience. It is our sophisticated levels of communication that has made us so successful, that allowed us to migrate from the African Savannah and to spread across the world. Communication cave drawings
has created romances and kingdoms, forged the future of the human animal whether it be in crude cave drawings, printing presses, midnight runs, or the spread of the internet communication has been at the heart of everything that has made mankind what we are today.

One could argue that today communication is more important than ever before, now an essential component of day-to-day life whether working in an office, conducting international trade, or simply having fun the force and power of regular and instant communication has never held the power and influence which it now does. Because instant communication has become so ubiquitous it has also become very much an essential component of most people’s lives, like coffee in the morning or a warm bath on a cold February night, instant communication is something most people can’t live without, something that millions of people across Egypt are discovering the hard way in the midst of their revolution. Now, half the world away, a local Texas man is starting to understand exactly how those people feel having lost his internet connection after an ongoing debate with his service provider.protest in egypt hosni mubarak

“I feel like a part of me has been taken away, like I lost an arm or something. I am so jittery and jumpy and it is so foreign to me that I can’t just jump online. It feels like a big part of me has gone missing, like there’s a hole in my gut,” said David Keller, 25. “It’s so hard getting up and having to walk down to Starbucks to get online and it’s totally not the same experience. I like my little place in the world and I like accessing things from there. Plus, I haven’t been able to play anything in days.”

Keller apparently had refused to pay his bill to Comcast for a number of months pending a dispute over a two hour outage in October. The company shut off his access late last week.dc universe online

“Frankly, I totally sympathize with the people in Egypt. I feel like this dictator is ruling over me, telling me what I can and can’t do and now that I’ve stood up to him is beating be down, trying to silence me but i won’t be silenced, we won’t be silenced,” continued Keller. “We cannot take these kinds of actions from these monolithic corporations. We must stand up to this kind of oppression and take down to beast that tries to stifle our communications. We cannot allow these organizations to destroy millions of years of human communication simply because they choose to do so. I’m with you Egypt, blood.”

Since losing access, Keller has been unable to play DC Universe online, one of the most popular online games.

“It has become clear in recent years that things like internet and cell phone access are starbucks
not simply important tools, but are essential components of day-to-day life, arguably as important as electricity and water. They are utilities with which we manage our daily lives, and without which we lose an essential component of managing our lives,” said Scrape TV Technology analyst Ken Kevins. “That said, because we are so reliant on it, it carries a great deal of power not only for us but also for the people who would seek to control us. By managing and monitoring our access and by forcing our reliance on these tools, they ultimately control us. That needs to end, as evidenced by the events in Egypt and what has befallen this young man in Texas. We must free ourselves from this tyranny.”

‘World of Warcraft’ is still the most popular online game in Egypt. Comcast had no comment.
