WINKELVOSS TWINS MAY SUE THEMSELVES IN LATEST ATTACK AGAINST FACEBOOK

June 29 2011

Menlo Park, CA – When Facebook started to get big, when it started to get really big, it was inevitable that it was going to get sued. In the early days, when it the site was still isolated to a handful of schools there was no real value in pursuing any type facebook headquarters
of legal action, provided of course that you couldn’t see the lurking potential of the venture. Few people, possibly no one, would ever have dreamt that the site would become as big as it is, but it did, and that success has brought all kinds of lawsuits.

Some of those suits have been settled because, well, because the people involved were most likely ripped off in the early days. Even if they had an idea as to what the site would become, they were pushed out for one reason or another and they went after their share. Now, as the company becomes a behemoth it only makes sense that the people formerly involved with the site want a bigger cut, even if they already made and agreement. Chief amongst antagonists are Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss who have been pursuing Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg endlessly for years, despite having negotiated a settlement which has landed them millions. Now the most famous twins in the web world have launched a new volley against the company and its founder, one that may even result in the pair suing themselves as they pursue Zuckerberg to the ends of the earth.

“This is by no means over. Yes, they dropped the one suit but that was done only cameron tyler winklevoss
after it was clear that it was going nowhere. This new suit will seek to rectify the situation in a very clear and decisive way,” said a spokesperson for the twins. “They want to make it clear that they were not treated fairly and that their settlement was gotten illicitly. They will pursue lawsuits until they are satisfied that they have gotten their fair share of the Facebook success which wouldn’t have happened without them.”

The newest suit alleges that Zuckerberg intentionally hid evidence during the original settlement negotiations.

“One would think that after landing a $65 million dollar settlement, which could increase, and being turned down by the Supreme Court they would just take their victory and move on, but not the Winklevoss twins. This suit seems very similar to others they have launched, but the devil is in the details,” said Scrape TV Legal analyst Gabe Hawthorne. “The argument they are making has some legal validity to it, but the overarching issue is that they accepted a settlement, a settlement which most rational people, including judges, would think would be more than enough to placate them. They have not been involved with Facebook over the last few years and that is where the company has gained most of its value. They were involved in the creation of the business, but not the evolution. There is no evidence that had they developed Facebook that it would have become a multi-billion dollar company.”fb mark zuckerberg

Other claimants from the early days of the site have been happy with their settlements.

“The real legal issue is that you cannot sue based on what something has become, only on what it was. That is the major sticking point. They can keep suing, and they have the money to do so, but it may not get them any further,” continued Hawthorne. “Another tactic might be to bring themselves into the suit, allege some kind of conspiracy between themselves and Zuckerberg. By including themselves in the suit they could gain some ground, prove collusion or some kind of interference. They could even sue themselves for making the original settlement which may result in that finding being thrown out and open up a whole new avenue for them to explore. It’s never been done before but you have to think outside the box if you are going to exact your revenge against a billionaire.”

The twins have been kicking themselves for years already.
