REPORT FINDS ONE THIRD OF WOMEN IN US MILITARY GO UNRAPED Washington, D.C. – War has always been a man’s game. Throughout the long history of warfare, virtually every commander and soldier has been a man. There are a few notable exceptions, Joan of Arc being chief amongst them, but all in all the game
of war has been played primarily by men. That has changed dramatically in the last sixty or so years, particularly in the United States with women becoming more and more a part of the armed forces and major players in conflicts around the world. ROGUE PLANE ATTACKS AND KILLS JOGGER ON SOUTH CAROLINA BEACH Hilton Head Islands, S.C. – Despite our utter dominance of the planet there are still areas that remain wild and untamed and a major danger. The wilds of Africa, the jungles of South America, and the frozen wastelands of Siberia are just a few
examples of the very treacherous lands that still vex human beings. While we may someday eventually conquer those lands, either through sheer determination or necessity, there is one part of the world that likely will remain forever dangerous, the oceans. |
LA EARTHQUAKE A PRECURSOR TO THE BIG ONELos Angeles, CA – In her very short lifetime Los Angeles has gone from a barren desert to one of the most important cities in the world. Without the long and storied history of places like Tokyo, Moscow, Berlin, or even sibling city New York, the City of Angels has done remarkably well. Much of that has of course been due to the movie industry which decided to set up house on the left coast, bringing prosperity to the city, the surrounding region, and the state as a whole.
SOUTH CAROLINA POLICE ON ALERT FOR ZOMBIE JAMES BROWN Columbia, SC – When James Brown died in 2006, a piece of musical history also died with him. Brown’s contribution to the American musical landscape is undeniable. It had such a profound impact not only on future musicians but on the culture of the United
States in general that his loss was a deep, deep loss even if his best years were long behind him. Brown’s life was of course not without controversy, some of which threatened to undo his legendary status, but ultimately Brown died as he lived, as the Godfather of Soul. |
