FORT HOOD SHOOTER REPORTEDLY STRUGGLED WITH HIS AIM
November 6 2009
Killeen, TX – As the tragedy of the mass shooting at the Foot Hood military base in Texas continues to reveal itself new details are coming forward about the alleged shooter. Twelve people were killed and another 31 wounded in the attack late Wednesday. The shooter, Major Nidal Hasan was amongst those killed.

As the grief and reality of the situation starts to settle in, the investigation is starting to focus on the deceased shooter. Thus far this what is known about him; he was a doctor specializing in mental health; he was about to be deployed to Iraq and was apparently very unhappy about it; he had recently converted to Islam; he apparently had very poor aim, something which had earned him a number of disciplinary actions and may have caused this latest incident. Though it will be a few days before the picture of the shootings is clear, it’s believed that his aiming issues as well as a huge dose of irony resulted in a toxic mix that has left so many dead.
“I remember him. He was a good guy really and that is what makes this all the more shocking. It’s really what makes it kind of unbelievable. I have a feeling that that as more information comes out we are going to have a very

different take on what has happened here. No matter how scared he was to go over to Iraq I don’t think he would have done this on purpose. He knew it was dangerous to put a gun into his hands and he told his superiors that over and over again, and then we have this,” said a Fort Hood insider who preferred to remain anonymous. “What I really think happened is that he was trying to hit a target and things just got out of control. I’ve seen him shoot before and it’s pretty horrific, he just goes all over the place. I can totally see him just losing control and shooting the place up but it’s not really his fault.”
The weapon used is believed to be a handgun, which would have to be reloaded multiple times to fire as many shots as were released in the incident. It’s not clear if such reloading was deliberate or if the Major, in his panic, accidently reloaded his weapon multiple times after trying to holster the firearm.
“Some people simply aren’t meant to be in the military. Unfortunately with the country in the midst of two wars and an ever present threat from rogue nations across the world they really need everyone they can get. Public opinion was largely moved away from joining the military and so they are going to try and keep whomever is willing to sign up, even if they can’t shoot straight,” said Scrape TV Military analyst Michael Kent. “This is perfect example of what can happen when you try and cut corners, especially when the people you are cutting carry guns. He was disciplined multiple times so it’s clear they knew he had an issue, so ultimately the blame falls on his superiors.”
Hasan reportedly had a habit of shooting other people’s targets on the shooting range as well frequently missing when attending the men’s room.
“For some it’s a psychological issue and for others it is a simple hand-eye issue. No one
really knows what makes someone really good at certain things but it’s fairly easy to
assess why people are bad at certain tasks. As far as the reloading thing goes, that very well could have been panic induced and he may have believed that he was actually ejecting the bullets rather than adding new ones,” said Scrape TV Psychology analyst Dr. Sarah Welp. “As far as him being a psychiatrist himself, well that’s just irony at play. Just because he understands the workings of the human mind that doesn’t make him immune to the effects of it. of course his medical training could have been just as robust as his aiming in which case his instructors are going to have a lot to answer for as to why they continued to let him move through the system.”
Fort Hood has one of the lowest hit percentages amongst all major military bases in the United States, something which likely drew the aim-impaired Hasan.

*Edit: Hasan was not killed and is currently in critical but stable condition in hospital.
