LA EARTHQUAKE A PRECURSOR TO THE BIG ONE
March 16 2010
Los Angeles, CA – In her very short lifetime Los Angeles has gone from a barren desert to one of the most important cities in the world. Without the long and storied history of places like Tokyo, Moscow, Berlin, or even sibling city New York, the City of

Angels has done remarkably well. Much of that has of course been due to the movie industry which decided to set up house on the left coast, bringing prosperity to the city, the surrounding region, and the state as a whole.
Despite that success, one major threat has always loomed over the city. Even as it grew from a medium sized city to a sprawling metropolis of millions in under 100 years, the serious danger posed to the region was well known. That danger of course is earthquakes, a common occurrence for people throughout the state, but always bring with them major concerns. The biggest concern of course is ‘The Big
One’, a massive earthquake that many fear could kill millions and separate the city from the continent. Built along the San Andreas fault such an earthquake, called a superthrust, is not simply a possibility but a promise. Now, with a seemingly small earthquake rattling the city, experts are predicting that the big one is imminent and are urging people to evacuate the city.
"No one can predict these bigger quakes, even people studying it for their whole lives. The Indian Ocean earthquake in 2004 for example had absolutely no warning. These type of quakes are simply unpredictable and while it could happen tomorrow, it could happen a hundred

years from now. Simply put, no one knows,” said Frank Galgano of Villanova University. “That said, I think there is a better than average chance that this little quake could indicate that the big one is coming sooner rather than later. Such a quake would result in the upheaval of streets, the collapse of buildings, water mains and gas lines bursting. Likely we would see the death of millions of people in Los Angeles alone. People should leave, now.”
Thus far no mass evacuation has occurred. Two families were spotted in a U-Haul truck late on Tuesday leaving the city, but were apparently moving employment reasons.
“The chaos that the city will encounter is unimaginable. There would be death and destruction everywhere. Aside from the millions killed outright, those trapped in the rubble would take days to die with little chance of rescue. The level of debris that will be created in that city will make most areas totally impassable,” said Scrape TV Disaster analyst Walter Lim. “This will be the biggest natural disaster to ever hit humankind. It will devastate the already fragile California economy, and could potentially undo the entire union. The country is already in danger of losing its credit rating and a disaster on this scale will require huge amounts of cash. This could the beginning of the end of the United States as we know it.”
The quake will also likely kill the majority of people involved in the motion picture business, including stars not currently on location outside of the country.
“Building a major city directly on a fault line was really a bad idea and now they will pay for it. Blood, carnage, and chaos will rule and only the strong and most corrupt will be able to survive, skills that will serve them well once the country collapses and the nukes go off,” continued Lim. “In that scenario the entire world will be thrust into nuclear Armageddon which will leave only a strong few alive, likely mutated, to rule over what little is left. This is of course the extreme end of the scenario, but people should really start moving out.”
Reportedly, an eerie calm has settled over the city.
