SEVEN-YEAR OLD KILLED IN DRIVE-BY ‘GOT WHAT SHE DESERVED’

April 11 2010

Miami, FL – Gang violence is nothing new to people in the United States. Big cities across the country have, to varying degrees, endured the trauma that can be brought about by conflicts between rival criminal organizations. A few cities, most notably gangs of new yorl
Cleveland, Los Angeles, and Miami have often been hit the hardest by such violence, beset as they are by rampant poverty and the influx of drugs. While the power of gangs has certainly abated in recent years, the potent power of their battles can still define and shatter a community.

Such has been the case in the Little Haiti section of Miami which for years has been at the centre of a growing gang culture. A cycle of poverty, mirrored in many ways by its big sister, has put the residents of the community on edge in one of the most violent areas of the gang member
country. Much like the Cuban immigration of the early 80’s, the influx of new residents left to their own devices has created a culture of violence in this small community, which in turn has traumatized those truly trying to make a better life for themselves. Such a sad situation appeared to be the case with 7-year old Jahyna Wace who became just the latest victim of the violence in the community on Friday. However, investigators assigned to the case have uncovered that the little girl may have been deliberately targeted, and got what she deserved.

“At first glance this appears to be an open and shut case of an innocent victim of a culture of violence. Little Jahnya Wace, dressed in her Hannah Montana sneakers without a worry in the world cut down by a spray of bullets but we now believe that to be much of an illusion and that she may have been targeted,” said the lead investigator Sgt. Confesor Gonzalez. “We are investigating all avenues as we always do but thus far it appears as though this is a case of someone who was a threat to at least one of the gangs in the area and was therefore targeted by that group.”

Insiders indicate that the child may have fallen afoul of the gang, likely due to lack of payment over Hannah Montana accessories.hannah montana shoes

“It’s an unfortunate reality but wherever there is a large immigrant community there is going to be violence. That was true of Italian and Irish immigrants in the 1800’s, true of Cuban immigrants in the 70’s and 80’s, and true of Haitians today and is likely to be a story that continues to play out in the future,” said Scrape TV American analyst Dave Davidson. “Part of the problem is undoubtedly poverty which particularly affects younger people, who in turn are more prone to violence. There are other factors to be sure, a lot of it very nebulous, but regardless of the reasons it is the reality of the violence that needs to be addressed, the causes are almost incidental.”

Throughout the Miami area, observers have noted that the violence has been affecting people at younger and younger ages.little haiti gang

“We will have to see what the end result of this investigation brings about, but one thing that is clear is that this violent behaviour seems to be skewing younger and younger. It’s unlikely that a seven-year old would have been a major player in the violent economy of the area, but it’s very possible that she could have been seen as an up and comer who needed to be eliminated,” continued Davidson. “It’s hard to say that a seven-year old girl deserved to gunned down, but sometimes sad stories are a part of the game. In a culture of violence and poverty, even the youngest amongst us can be both victims and victimizers and that appears to have been the case here.”

Wace’s elementary schoolmates described her as a loner and a jerk with most stating that they were happy she was gone, particularly for recess. None of those classmates are considered suspects at this time.
