CROWDS MASSING AS QUEEN OVERSTAYS HER WELCOME IN NEW YORK
July 7 2010
New York, NY – In her prime, the United Kingdom was the largest empire to ever rule. It wasn’t just area that the U.K. dominated, though it did that just narrowly edging out the Mongolian Empire, but is was influence and economic power that
defined the empire. With protectorates in the Americas, Oceania, Africa, Asia, and of course Europe the scope and scale of the empire at its peak was truly mindboggling and with access to major resources such as spice and tea, the empire had almost unlimited power.
While much of that power has been diminished in recent years, the effect of the empire has been enormous. The carving up of the Middle East following World War II for example, or the growing economic prosperity of India are just few examples of how British influence helped to shape the modern world. Of course one of, if not the biggest, influence that the U.K. had on the world was birthing the United States which itself has become one of the largest empires ever, influencing global policy and changing the dynamic with which the world operates. Of course unlike countries such as Canada or Australia, the United States was formed out of rebellion rather than cooperation, something marked only a few days ago, a few days ahead of Queen Elizabeth’s visit to the country which has drawn a great deal of scorn from patriots.
“She’s a grand old lady to be sure but visiting the country so close to the birth of our nation is a little disgusting to be honest. Having her here at the U.N. and visiting the World Trade Center site sits a little funny with me and most loyal Americans,” said Mike of New York. “I guess she can travel where she wants just as long as she doesn’t stay too long. We had them here for too long before and we don’t want them starting to get comfortable or it else it might be time to beat an old lady.”
The Queen travelled to New York after a nine day trip across Canada, a nation of which she is the head of state.
“Frankly I think it’s terrible the way the Mayor and Governor are parading her around like nothing happened. I mean she is the main British person and she’s here on American soil whatever she wants. I mean we wouldn’t let the King of Saudi Arabia or Iraq do see the World Trade Center site so why should she?” said Kate of New Jersey. “We can’t let these foreigners just keep coming into our country. And these ones, like we already kicked them out and they keep coming back. I mean take a hint lady. We don’t want you here so get out.”
King Aziz of Saudi Arabia has in fact visited the World Trade Center site and Iraq has a president rather than a King.
“There were understandably hurt feelings 250 years ago but much of that one would think has been cured by the passing of time. If nothing else the rise in American power and the decline of the British Empire should have provided a salve for those hurt feelings but I guess not everyone in the country feels the same way,” said Scrape TV American analyst Dave Davidson. “I mean the vast majority of people in the country have no real affiliation with the revolution because it was so long ago. They may have had distant relatives who suffered at the hands of the British but they themselves have not. Of course she is still a foreigner and so even if they hadn’t had a rough past they might still want her out.”
The Queen has apparently made no change to her plans despite the cold welcome.
