AMERICANS MAKING QUICK CASH BY SELLING THEIR STAKE IN THE AFTERLIFE

September 28 2011

Palm City, FL – No one knows why we are here and no one knows what happens to us when we leave. There are certainly a lot of theories on both matters, but no one knows for sure and until we actually pass on, that will remain the case. Death and life are mysteries that mortals will likely never resolve, a fact which has now become an avenue for quick cash for many Americans.heaven

Across the country Americans are starting to sell a piece of their stake in the afterlife by dumping unused cemetery plots in hopes of making some quick cash, even if it means compromising the future. With costs ranging from $1000 to $50,000 dollars, the plots are starting to sell like hotcakes across Craigslist, particularly in sunny Florida. Experts though are warning people to be wary of such sales, concerned about the safety on Craigslist as usual, but also that some may be sacrificing their place in the afterlife, and consequently their eternal soul, just to make a quick buck here on Earth.

“This is new to me. Kind of a weird investment the money would help. That's the reason why I should get these on Craigslist and do something about it. Really, they are no good to me right now and hopefully I won't need them anytime soon,” said one Florida seller, Holly Purkey. She is hoping for $3000 for a pair of side-by-side plots which were designated for her grandparents who have since moved out of state.crematorium

It’s not clear how many plots have been sold since the economic crisis began, no statistics are kept, but it’s believed to be in the hundreds in Florida alone.

“Cemetery costs are really the biggest part of funeral costs today, and those costs are only going up and up. Many more people are opting for cremation which is far less expensive, and frankly far less dignified but it’s not for us to decide that,” said one local funeral home owner. “We are here to usher people into the next world and to lay them to peace. We do not encourage the selling of funeral plots but we will always accommodate people in their wishes, no matter the cost to their eternal souls.”

Cremations generally net less revenue than traditional funerals. Graveside services are amongst the most expensive options in funerals.burial plot

“People really need to think about what they are doing when they think selling their funeral plots. Aside from compromising their financial security in the future, they are also risking their shot at the afterlife. There is a reason we bury people, it’s what they did to the Lord after all. By doing this they are potentially risking not getting into Heaven, or not. We don’t really know the rules on this type of thing,” said Scrape TV Religion analyst Bertram Gas. “Hopefully people are making these decisions for good reason, though. Quick cash can really help, but so can short term pain. I don’t think, however, that we are at the levels where people are willing to sell any more of their eternal destiny. Hopefully we don’t get to that stage, no one wants to see Satan onCraigslist. That you certainly won’t be able to trust.”

Craigslist has no officially policy on selling burial plots or dealing with the Devil.
