KILLING OF WHITE SUPREMACIST LEADER SENDS SHOCKWAVES THROUGH THE NATION

Sacramento, CA – For most people there are fewer actions more repellent than hatred, particularly when it comes to race. While it is certainly true that in the past such opinions were not in the majority, at least not in the vocal minority, that shift 
towards empathy for those treated poorly because of their race or religion has been relatively universal. With a black President in the United States, the erosion of the caste system in India, and increased immigration in Japan, the move towards a more racially equitable future seems to be the new standard.
Still, prejudice does certainly still exist. There are many countries in the world where prejudice of one form or another is not just acceptable but is a standard. Even in nations where those ideas are most certainly looked down upon there are still corners of the population who relish in such disdain for their fellow man. That is most certainly the case in the United States where white supremacist organizations are still relatively prominent and whose actions often garner a great deal of attention, case-in-point is the recent shooting of David Lynch, the leader American Front, a prominent white supremacy group. While normally such incidents would regard little interest, this particular killing has prompted waves of sympathy across the nation.
“This is a sad day for us and for all of our supporters. No time when a person is killed in such a brutal and senseless manner is pleasant, but this particular incident certainly sends shockwaves throughout the community. David was a leader for many of us,” said one white supremacist who preferred not to be named. “This is a shocking incident and it will take a long time for us the really contemplate how to integrate this into our lives. David’s absence leaves a huge whole in our hearts, and those hearts go out to his family and loved ones who are suffering right now.”
Lynch’s pregnant girlfriend was wounded in the shooting. Lynch became leader of the organization, which was founded in 1985, in 2002.
“These types of incidents certainly underscore the violent world in which many people
who espouse these beliefs live. There is certainly a great of aggression in their attitudes towards the world and that often trickles down into their real lives. Unlike people who work at a factory or an office, these people tend to take their work home with them and that can really affect their lives,” said Scrape TV Racism analyst Drake Douglas. “For them these organizations are really more of weekend events anyway. It’s become very difficult in recent years to make a living as a racist. Membership, and thus fees, have dramatically declined in recent years and many white supremacists struggle to make ends meet without having another job. The reality is that job has become the life because of that, and that leads to things bleeding together and unfortunate incidents like this.”
The prime suspect in the killing is a tattoo artist who was only loosely related to the organization.
“I have little doubt that this is going to force a lot of these organizations to rethink things like security and who they go to for tattoos. In any realm where you are the underdog, surviving on the underbelly of acceptable society there is a great deal of risk. Look at the recent series of slappings at ‘Babylon-5’ events as evidence that no area is truly safe,” continued Douglas. “Anytime you live on the peripheries of society you run the risk of being sunk. That’s just the reality of society as a whole and this is one more sad example of that happening.”
Crosses across the country have been lit in memoriam of Lynch.
