NEW YORK PREPARES FOR THE END OF EVERYTHING AS HURRICANE IRENE APPROACHES

August 25 2011

New York, NY – Hurricane Irene is coming and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Projected to make landfall on Saturday, the storm system will rapidly move along the East Coast taking out houses and making everything really wet. By Monday, the storm will likely hit New York, a rare occurrence and an event that has caused many in that city to prepare their souls for the end of times.hurricane preparation

“I am so scared. We boarded up the windows and we bought a whole bunch of food and water but I don’t know if that will be enough. We live on the fifth floor which will probably be good for the flooding but I’m scared that the building will get knocked down,” said Mary who lives in Manhattan. “I’m so scared.”

By the time the storm reaches New York it is expected to be at least a category 2, down from a high of 4 when it hits the Carolinas on Saturday. Still, New York is not used to hurricanes and many are concerned that residents just will not know how to deal with the extreme weather.

“We understand the concern of many residents. We want to assure them that emergency services are in place and ready to react to any eventuality. We do not want people to be overly concerned. With any luck we will only be hit by the tail end of the burning candle
storm which will just mean a lot of rain,” said a city spokesperson. “However, we do urge people to take sensible precautions. We do not want them to panic but be prepared to go into work late on Monday and stock up on candles and batteries. There is a very real possibility that some places will lose power so please be sensible.”

State officials have also assured residents that Wi-Fi networks are well protected meaning that Facebook and Twitter access will likely be unaffected even if the storm hits the city proper.

“This is probably a once in a generation type of storm but that doesn’t mean that people have to panic. It’s a little bit of a concern to people, understandably, especially so close on the heels of the earthquake but that shouldn’t cause panic,” said Scrape TV Weather analyst Graham Gilliam. “By the time it reaches New York the storm will be significantly weakened and the path looks to be sending it offshore. I would imagine there will be some power outages which will be an inconvenience but not devastating. If they can keep the wireless networks up people will be fine.”

City officials are also recommending that residents charge their wireless devices on Sunday just in case the power does go out. The storm will also likely strike New England, interrupting a whole lot of vacations.texting

“People should prepare sensibly by getting supplies and the like ready, but they shouldn’t panic. In fact, they should just sit back and enjoy the storm. I mean people in New York aren’t going to see their loved ones being sucked away like they will down south so they don’t need to worry too much. It’s going to be wet and windy but that’s about it,” continued Gilliam. “People will be screaming for their lives and arguing with insurance companies in a lot of places, but not in New York and that should give resident a little bit of comfort. Just relax and enjoy the storm.”

South Carolina officials have asked their residents to start saying goodbye to their loved ones.
