NEW YORK TOWN BANS ALL PUBLIC JUSTIN BIEBER DISPLAYS
February 13 2011
Yonkers, NY – Celebrity crushes come and go. It’s just the nature of things. The stars and the fans grow up and inevitably, a crush being what it is, fades away into memory. Crushes though, whether for a celebrity or some other prominent figure, are

an essential part of growing up, a wholly natural expression of burgeoning sexuality that may eventually be embarrassing, but in the moment is totally genuine and honest for both boys and girls. For girls of a certain age there is no bigger object of affection right now than Justin Bieber.
With millions of records sold and a new hit movie in theatres, it’s clear that Bieber has become a major cultural icon for a generation, one that despite the wishes and hopes of many, is not going to go away anytime soon. While the future is still to be written and Bieber could go in a multitude of different directions, his popularity right now is not something that can be denied. Of course, not everyone likes the young singer and in a repeat of a story that has been told through each generation a parental backlash has begun against the pop star with at least one school in Yonkers, New York threatening to suspend students for openly displaying Bieber paraphernalia.
“It's ridiculous. They're good kids who love Justin Bieber. They showed up to school with their T-shirts and they were threatened by security and by the principal. There is no reason they should ostracized for their love of any musical artist,” one parent told TMZ.
“Students at Roosevelt High School were not banned from wearing shirts displaying the image of Justin Bieber, nor were they accused of being in a gang. The girls are more than welcome to wear suitable clothing in accordance with school policy, the same policy that applies to every student that attends Roosevelt High School,” said a representative for the school.
The students in question had been wearing handmade shirts which displayed, amongst other things, the phrase ‘Bieber Krew’ which apparently violated multiple school policies.
“Inevitably there is always a rebellion when it comes to the passions of youth. Elvis,
The Beatles, punk music, metal, rap, it has happened to every generation and things are no different today than they were back then. True, Bieber’s music isn’t nearly as incendiary as some other musical acts but the opposition is the same,” said Scrape TV Music analyst Dylan Chambers. “In every generation there will be passions and there will be those who oppose those passions, the stuck up dean who can’t stand the flightiness of youth, the one person who wants to keep everything in line. Every generation has rebellious youth, and every generation has the man trying to keep them in line which is very obviously what is going on here. These students showed their individuality and were crushed for it.”
The school does not have any official policy regarding Justin Bieber but multiple incidents regarding the singer have been reported over the last year.
“It may just be that Bieber is the most prominent person in recent times, that the number of incidents are in direct relation to amount of exposure but the same argument could have been made for any other major group that was cracked down upon in the past. In the end it isn’t about the artist, it is about the expression,” continued Chambers. “I’m not disputing the validity of an Anti-Bieber policy for sheer taste reasons but ultimately each generation has to have its own voice no matter whether or not we as adults approve. That is just the nature of this process, youth needs to rebel and Justin Bieber is the voice of that rebellion.”
When contacted for comment representatives for Bieber just hung up the phone, angrily.
