OPRAH WINFREY BUYS CHICAGO STREET TO CALL HER OWN

Chicago, IL – There are few stories that encapsulate the American dream like the one Oprah Winfrey has lived. Coming from a poor upbringing filled with abuse and neglect to become one of the wealthiest and most powerful people in the country is a tale that
few countries could ever boast. Granted, even in the annals of American history Winfrey’s tale is relatively unique. So extreme that it might be something which could have occurred anywhere, but it did happen in America, and is most certainly a dream.
Now though, having achieved just about everything a person could ever want, Winfrey has become a mogul, using her power to branch into areas that don’t really benefit her bank account but merely her personal hold on power. Her influence on the election of Barack Obama is one example of that, and the recent launch of her own television network is another. Now, with so much, Winfrey able to use her power to do unique things, including it appears buying up entire sections of Chicago, her adopted hometown. A recent announcement by Richard Daley, Mayor of the city, revealed that the talk show queen has now purchased, and renamed after herself, the street outside her studio, just one of many changes Winfrey intends to make as she steps away from the show which made her famous.
“This is a momentous time for the city of Chicago. Oprah has been a part of the beating heart of this city for more than two decades. She has made our city her home, and has expressed her love for that home in ways that few people ever have,”
said a statement from the mayor’s office. “This transition is just one small thing that we can do to thank Ms. Winfrey for the love she has given the Windy City. We are proud and honoured to have her as a permanent part of the arteries of our great city.”
Winfrey will end her talk show at the end of May.
“This is the beginning of a new era for the city of Chicago and for one of our greatest citizens. By engaging with Ms. Winfrey in the bettering of this street, we hope that we will better all of Chicago. As people well know, everything to which she has attached her name has become gold, and we expect the same results from this street,” continued the statement. “We will of course consider future changes at Ms. Winfrey’s request and service. We will always welcome her input and influence on how the city has run. There has been no better spokesperson or representative of Chicago than her and we will do what we need to do in order to make her happy.”
Winfrey is reportedly considering the purchase of upwards of a dozen streets in the downtown core.
“It makes sense that with all her money and all her influence that eventually something
like this was going to happen. In many ways she is about the only thing that has come out of Chicago in the last few years, keeping people interested when there was no interest to be had. She has always remained loyal and dedicated to the city so it only makes sense that she would eventually take over,” said Scrape TV American analyst Dave Davidson. “I’m sure that the people of Chicago will welcome the change with open arms. There are probably no people in the world who have more affection for Oprah than the people of Chicago and so they will likely welcome this new ruler with a great deal of enthusiasm. Realistically they have no choice though so they might as well.”
Winfrey recently restricted access to the Lincoln Park Zoo.
