THE UNITED STATES TO CEASE OPERATIONS BY 2016

April 26 2011

Washington, D.C. – Throughout history there have been many empires that have defined the times in which they exist. Many of those countries have in turn helped define the modern world, even as they themselves faded into the past. For many of nero
us it’s difficult to understand such collapses, relegated as they are to history books, making them seem almost hypothetical tales rather than real life events. Those rises and falls did happen though, and continue as time marches forward, and one nation is very much on the chopping block.

For the better part of century one country, the United States, has been the predominant global power in the world. While many have challenged that status in the past, none have been able to undo the countries rise to the top, and nearly complete control of it for much of that time. The U.S. has been the one of the great empires of all time, accumulating more wealth and more influence than any other in the past, a reality that everyone alive has always known. Now though, like many empires of the past, it appears that time is coming to an end. With a report from the IMF that China will, by 2016, surpass the U.S. economy, officials are starting to make plans to shut down the country, ceasing nearly all operations by the end of that year.

“There are a number of factors here and in real terms, in terms of PPP, the United States will still have a larger economy but China will outstrip the United States in strict fourth of july party
GDP. That means that China will in market terms have a larger economy, and one that will likely only grow larger,” said an IMF analyst. “The IMF considers that GDP in purchase-power-parity (PPP) terms is not the most appropriate measure for comparing the relative size of countries to the global economy, because PPP price levels are influenced by non-traded services, which are more relevant domestically than globally, which will still place the United States at a higher level than China.”

Regardless of the actual impact of the change, many doomsayers are already spelling the end of the American empire, heeding calls to not plan much beyond 2016.

“This is tough time to hear this news, going into an election cycle as we are. Whoever the next President is, Obama or somebody else, it’s clear they are going to have to deal with these issues going forward. That means not only dealing with the practical issues like packing, but sorting out all the social issues related to shutting down a nation,” said one U.S. official. “It’s going to be a huge headache and four years is bald eagle
really not enough time to do it all. I imagine there will be a lot of looses ends that need to be cleared up afterwards, beyond 2016, but as long as the majority of the work is done I think everything will work out okay.”

It’s not yet clear what form the new continent will take.

“It was inevitable that the U.S. would eventually fade away. It has happened to all countries and the U.S. in no different than them. The country will fade away and something else will take its place, that was written in stone from the beginning, though admittedly I didn’t expect it to just be phased out like this,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “It’s good though, going out with dignity like this. I wouldn’t have expected that from the U.S. and there will likely be a transitional problem here and there, but hopefully they can keep a cool head and allow the Chinese to take over with grace, transition out of this thing peacefully.”

Most officials expect that the final pieces of the legal transition will be accomplished by mid 2018.
