AMERICANS BUY RECORD NUMBER OF GUNS, BULLETS, INCENDIARY DEVICES FOR CHRISTMAS
January 2 2012
Washington, D.C. - The economy is still a tough go. Spending is down across the board in the United States and until things get better, if they ever do, it will likely remain that way. Unfortunately until people start to spend, things won’t get much better, creating a perfect storm of economic turmoil unlike anything the world has ever seen.
Already that turmoil has started to threaten the European Union, and it won’t be long before it starts to stifle growth in places like China and Russia. Things have improved, certainly, from their worst but things are still not better. Better than they were perhaps, but not better, better.
Some areas of the economy, though, aren’t suffering as much as others. In particular one of the great American pastimes not only did not suffer but actually improved as Americans bought more guns for Christmas this year than in any other year in history. That surge has given confidence to many economic-types that spending is at least improving, though raised concerns that confidence may be dipping as people prepare for all out war trying to defend their homes against ravaging mobs.
“There are a lot of people concerned about pending gun legislation and the sense about the current administration. People think future availability will be limited and there's a feeling of get it while you can,” said David LaRue of Legendary Guns in Phoenix.
In fact, the number of registered guns in December was the highest ever for a single month, just beating out November.
Many gun advocates, particularly the NRA, have promoted the idea that tougher gun laws are incoming despite no evidence to support that. Other possible reasons for the surge could be fear of a total collapse of the economic system and subsequent raping and pillaging, or that 2012 could indeed by the last year on the Earth, which would likely create the same effect.
“Look, Americans like their guns and they aren’t going to want to be without them. Yes, tougher gun laws could happen but that is likely not the core reason. That hasn’t happened and Obama is in tough in this election and so new gun laws may never happen. Riots and random attacks, though, that is a real possibility,” said Scrape TV American analyst Dave Davidson. “People are going to want to defend their homes and their families. They are going to want to keep the looters and rapists from their young homes and young daughters and the best way to do that is to stay well armed and ready to use those arms.”
Gun shops have also reported record numbers of bullet sales and increases in the sale of other weapons such as grenades and the components for napalm.
“Once things get really bad, people aren’t going to keep making guns. Looters will get the supplies already in stores and then the only way to get a weapon will be from corpses. Eventually people will develop ways to create makeshift guns, but those people will likely be the descendents of those who had proper guns, the ones who survived,” continued Davidson. “All of this may be for naught, of course, if the apocalypse comes. I mean you will be protected in the short term but to what end? You’ll kill a few robbers and rapists but you will still end up just as dead as everyone else. To each his own, I suppose. It ain’t my money.”
Many gun store owners are buying guns themselves, predicting a need to kill looters in the months ahead.
