ANGRILY-EMPLOYED RATE REACHES ALL TIME HIGH
October 23 2011
Washington, D.C. – For the last few years much of the focus has been on jobs as a means to economic recovery. After all, with a record-high unemployment rate the most sensible thing is to put people back to work, and for those seeking jobs any employment will do, just about. That hasn’t been so easy, though, for a lot of reasons.
Adding to the woes is the ever-increasing number of under-employed people, people who despite having jobs are still not able to make ends meet, an area that seems to be only increasing as time goes on and employers split jobs into smaller and smaller portions.
In turn, that has also increased the number of a yet another area of the job sector, one that often goes ignored in reports, the angrily employed which has been increasing in recent years as people take on lousier and lousier jobs and work for and beside jerks who they just can’t stand.
“It certainly is a beggars can’t be choosers kind of situation, but this particular area has become an issue for concern. We are finding that more and more employees are expressing dissatisfaction with their employment, their compensation, and their environment yet are unwilling to quite because of the rough market,” said a spokesperson for the Department of Health and Human Services. “This has in turn made a lot of people angry. They yell at their spouses a lot more, at their kids, and tend to drink a lot more. This is an area of great concern for us.”
Exact numbers have been difficult to come because the majority of people just get too angry half way through the questionnaire.
“If this trend continues, we expect that we will see more and more domestic issues and stress-related murder-suicides. After all, one angry person at work can create more angry people and it has this kind of cascading effect across an entire workforce,” continued the spokesperson. “This is unfortunately just one of the many dynamics we are dealing with. We hope that when the number of employment opportunities increase, so too will job satisfaction simply because people will be able to quite their lousy jobs and get better ones.”
Most employees report some level of dissatisfaction with their jobs, though most are not included in the study because they simply aren’t angry enough.
“This is one area that will naturally improve as the economic conditions improve, a part of the ecosystem of the market in many ways. I mean people will likely still not like their jobs to some degree, but there are tiers of that. Some people just don’t like working and will get angry at good jobs, while other people are genuinely working below their standard and alongside jerks,” said Scrape TV Business analyst Ken Green. “Hopefully that number will start to shift, but for now a lot of people are just going to have to deal with being angry unfortunately. I do hope that the President took these numbers into account when creating his bill, though management rarely does.”
Most White House workers state that they are happy.
