Hollywood, CA – Hollywood is the place where dreams are made and broken. For the most part, they are broken. For every Tom Cruise there are thousands of who follow their fantasy of wealth and fame, glitz and glamour, to Hollywood and end up either getting ignored or chewed up and spit out by the machine after giving body and soul to the effort.
Now it appears that one individual took that dedication a little more literally than most others after police in the city discovered a host of human remains around the famous Hollywood sign. Amongst the remains are two hands, two feet, and a head which, at least initially, it’s believed are from the same individual, though so far identification has not been possible.
An initial assessment of the remains indicates that the death of the as-yet unidentified man in his 40s was likely foul play, as evidenced by the lack of other body parts and the general inability to sever one’s own head, particularly without hands.
“We're hoping we can find more remains. In situations like this we are always hoping that we can find more remains. The more remains the better. It allows us to better understand what happened to the individual and aids us in tracking down an identity,” 
said a police spokesperson. “No one wants human remains hanging around. We like to get all the parts whenever we can so as to remove all mystery from the equation. We also can’t really afford the overtime right now.”
Generally, a case in Los Angeles County will stay open for years if the majority of body parts cannot be found.
So far, no one has come forward to claim the missing remains, which would likely come in the form of someone reporting a missing person.
“It’s scary. I walk my dogs in this area all the time and I have never seen anything like this before. I never seriously thought something like this could happen but then it did and you are like, wow, this really happened. It’s so strange,” said one local who preferred to remain anonymous for fear of the same thing happening to her. “It’s not the thing you expect when you go out for a walk. I can tell you that I will be keeping my dogs away from the area for a long time, maybe forever.”
Police have not indicated any threat to canines, though they have closed off the area as they investigate.
“This is really like an old school type of thing. It would have been more compelling if it had been a young girl, far more Hollywood, but I’m sure that will change once they make the TV movie about it. Some middle-aged guy isn’t quite as compelling a story as a young girl, her innocence stolen in the big, tough city. That’s story,” said Scrape TV American analyst Dave Davidson. “I’m sure the filmed version will be much better than this. Hopefully it doesn’t end up being something lame like a really elaborate suicide or like drugs or something. I guess it doesn’t matter, really, I mean they can always change the ending into something more exciting and more dramatic. That’s what Hollywood does best, well that and destroying people’s dreams and leaving them to die.”
Agents from across the city have flocked to the site, hoping to get first crack at the deal.
