MICHAEL MOORE RALLIES OCCUPY OAKLAND CROWD TO GET HIM A BURGER

Oakland, CA – While many people have quite rightly criticized the ‘Occupy’ movements for lack of focus and abuse of principles, there is no doubt that they are having an impact. True, no one has actually left their jobs as a result of the protests, and the economic and social network of the nation has not suddenly shifted, but the spirit of protest itself has had an impact, sparking real passion amongst a certain group trying to find its voice.
Because of that, more than anything, the protests have garnered a lot of attention from a wide spectrum of people and, unlike other such recent movements such as the Tea Party, this one has gained the attention of popular and powerful celebrities, who often of course lean left wing to begin with.
Most of that attention has been paid to the New York protests, but as the protest movement has spread so too has the dispersion of celebrities, even to out of the way places like Oakland which filmmaker Michael Moore recently visited, hoping to stir the crowd and have them run out to the local In and Out Burger and get him a snack.
“I’m looking at the mosaic of the country right here in Oakland,” Moore told the crowd. “This weekend in Oakland will stand out as a watershed moment. Something good will come out of this movement.”
That something good, he insinuated, was a 4x4 burger and a Dr. Pepper.
“Michael, he insisted we call him that, said he was starving. He had only eaten two breakfasts that morning and skipped his first lunch. Add to that all the excitement of the crowd and the movement and he said he was just starving so he asked a few of us to sneak out and get him a snack,” said one protestor. “We got one of the quieter people to go fetch him some food. No, he did not pay for it himself but we see it as a great value anyway. He brought attention to the movement, to Oakland, and a few bucks for lunch isn’t that much to pay really.”
The person who went for the meal, Dexter, was not reimbursed for the food. The meal was eaten almost as soon as it was delivered after which Moore quickly exited the protests and went for dinner.
Moore is the only celebrity to have visited the Oakland protests, and likely will be the only one anytime soon. There is no official meal program.
“It’s good, great even, that they take care of the people at the protests, at least the celebrities. Moore is a big fish for them, one of the more prominent and respected liberals and his presence will certainly help out their movement to do whatever it is their movement is supposed to be doing,” said Scrape TV American analyst Dave Davidson. “I’m sure his presence revitalized the movement in that area and gave them a lot of confidence that what they were doing was all worth it. It probably also helped out the local In and Out. That smell, it would have just wafted over the crowd and I’m sure the restaurant would have had a rush. Good for them, a good day of business for them.”
Moore later attended the San Francisco protests. In and Out also has a location in that area.
