NATION MOURNS AS SNOW FALLS ONCE AGAIN ACROSS EAST COAST
October 30 2011
New York, NY – it’s coming, and it’s coming hard and fast. Despite months of hope and desire, the snow has returned to the east coast of the United States and this time there may be no stopping it.
A massive storm system is rapidly approaching areas of the East Coast, a system that will create the earliest snowfall in the region since the Civil War, a measure that really has little to do with anything at all but has served to frighten a lot of people.
It’s not clear how much snow will actually fall during the storm, but it is believed that it will melt away very quickly.
“We are issuing storm warnings for the entire northeast region of the country. We expect heavy precipitation across the region just as we do every year in and around this time. We advise people to wear heavy clothing and drive carefully,” said a spokesperson for the national weather service. “It’s going to be a cold one, quite cold, even brisk. We want to make sure that people are prepared.”
Many across the region had hoped to delay or even resist the snowfall this season, but is does not appear that such a hope exists at this stage.
It’s believed that a record number of people will get wet feet through the storm as a result of many insisting that it just won’t be that bad.
“People should get prepared because winter is coming. We’ve all enjoyed very warm temperatures this fall but it is happening and it’s happening soon, much sooner I think than people had hoped but that tends to happen,” said Scrape TV Weather analyst Graham Gilliam. “Winter is coming this year, like it or not, and this is just a taste of what’s to come.”
Because of the warm conditions on the ground it is not expected that walking will be too much of a problem but experts are recommending sensible footwear, advice many in the New York City area simply aren’t heeding.
“Ain’t nothing. It’ll be a little wet ya know, a little cold but this is New York. We can take it. These weather people, they’re always telling us these things but it’s no big deal really. It’s way too early to have real snow anyways, they’re just a bunch of fools,” said Dominic, a local.
“It’s really terrible that they let these storms happen this early. They should really do something about that, they shouldn’t let the weather people do this kind of thing or they should close down the borders so the weather can’t get in like this. It’s just isn’t right, not this early,” said Marie, another local.
The storm is part of a low pressure system that originated in the North Carolina area. The heaviest snowfall is expected to be in West Virginia.
