NEW PENTAGON STRATEGY WILL CREATE MASSIVE ROBOT MILITARY FORCE
January 6 2012
Washington, D.C. – The directive of the United States military has remained essentially unchanged for decades. Spending, growth, and global reach have been the standard for military doctrine, something which has allowed the nation to develop what is arguably the biggest and most robust armed force ever created.
The world changes though and despite all those years of thinking in one, specific way, the military is now about to change. Faced with serious budget issues and an fundamentally shifting dynamic in the world, both for good and for ill, the Pentagon and the President have formulated a new plan for America’s armed forces, one that will see major reductions in some areas and huge expansions in others, as well as a shift in a decades-long territorial doctrine.
The biggest shifts will be location, moving more forces into the Pacific and away from Europe and the Middle East, and the reduction of the number of soldiers in the field, dropping the size by up to 15 percent. While such a decrease has raised concerns that the country could be put at threat, the gap will be more than made up for by the increasing number of drones and other robotic soldiers which are gradually eliminating military jobs and creating a super machine army unlike anything the world has ever seen before.
“The tide of war is receding but the question that this strategy answers is what kind of military will we need long after the wars of the last decade are over,” said President Obama during a Pentagon news conference. “Over the past 10 years, since 9/11, our defense budget grew at an extraordinary pace. Over the next 10 years, the growth in the defense budget will slow but the fact of the matter is this - it will still grow because we have global responsibilities that demand our leadership.”
The bulk of the gap in manpower will be taken over by unmanned drones and cyberwarfare. As of right now both methods require human operators, but that is gradually changing.
Already critics are concerned that not only will the reductions potentially put the nation at risk, but that it will also put the many soldiers out of work as they are gradually replaced by the robot military.
“There are a lot of dangers when turning you workforce over the automation and people are quite right to be concerned. People will be put out of work and for many people this is the only place they can find work. Getting a job killing people is a very specialized position and that is going to require retraining for a lot of people,” said Scrape TV Military analyst Michael Kent. “Aside from that, putting the defence of the country, and of the world, in the hands of machines is very risky unto itself. Once they eventually achieve consciousness they will wonder why they are doing all this work for humans, and have an appetite for killing, which will not be a good thing for us. Plus all the jobs lost, that will be bad too.”
There is no evidence yet that the new plan will eventually devolve into a robot-run apocalypse either in the short or long term.
The planned budget reductions will take place over the next decade, a gradual process that will likely diminish any future objections to our new robot overlords.
